Our friends at Newark Air Museum are delighted to announce that the preparatory work for their upcoming Tribute to the V-Force event, to take place on Saturday 19 May 2018, is almost complete.
This will be the sixth time the museum has hosted a V-Force Reunion event for former personnel who operated Valiant, Victor and Vulcan aircraft, and on the day an area will be set up for former V-Force personnel to sign-in and collect their badges.
However, the event is also open to the general public, and museum trustees, volunteers and staff have put together a range of special displays and activities.
Across the weekend a number of museum aircraft will be open for people to visit – including the Vulcan, Hastings, and Varsity. A small additional charge will be made for each aircraft visited (proceeds towards the museum’s various aircraft restoration projects).
There will also be a Vulcan XM594 systems demonstration, which utilises the Rover APU to operate various systems on the aircraft, including opening and closing the huge bomb bay doors and four V-Force related talks will also take place in the Museum’s Dambusters hut. These talks are free, but those wanting to attend should book their ticket when they arrive at the museum.
The event will also be attended by a number visiting displays, including but not limited to model displays, V-Force related photographs and log books, and V-Force era RAF navigational equipment, from the Royal Institute of Navigation.
Finally, weather permitting, the BBMF’s Dakota will be making a fly past on the Saturday.
