The RAF’s 34 Regiment Squadron has arrived at Royal Air Force Akrotiri in Cyprus to assume the force protection role. The RAF Leeming-based unit will take the temporary position after being handed over the role from No.2 Mercians Battalion. They will perform duties such as manning vehicle check points, controling access to and from the airfield, whilst also protecting the air assets within RAF Akrotiri.
