Book Review: Our Story, Your History

The International Bomber Command Centre

by Steve Darlow, Mark Dodds, Dan Ellin, Sean Feast and Robert Owen

Already, the International Bomber Command Centre has attracted a great deal of acclaim and attention since its opening earlier this year, and this book certainly raises further the profile of this magnificent endeavour.

The publication, authored by a team of highly respected and well-known Bomber Command specialists, tells the story behind the IBCC, a potted history of Bomber Command, the human story of those who flew, fought and often died. It includes the often overlooked stories of the men and women who provided vital support as ground crews servicing the aircraft and looking after the aircrew. Illustrated throughout, the work covers the development of the IBCC project as well as showing the wartime pictures of those whose memory is central to the project. Particularly evocative, though, are the images of the Bomber Command veterans themselves at the IBCC, all of them published with the stories of these individual men.

This is a lovely book, and of the quality we have come to expect from Fighting High. It is a must for those with an interest in RAF Bomber Command.
