A special celebration is to take place in the Belgian town of Mons on August 30 – September 1, to mark the 75th anniversary of the town’s liberation. The event is expected to feature a large number of World War Two tanks and other armoured vehicles.
The event scheduled for Friday August 30 and Saturday August 31 includes various commemoration activities taking place plus the reconstruction of a field hospital and a military themed market selling books, medals, uniforms and memorabilia. Sunday September 1 sees an impressive parade organised by the 83rd Reconnaissance Battalion of the 3rd US Armoured Division, which will include classic tanks and armoured vehicles. www.walloniabelgiumtourism.co.uk
